Page 2 of 2 Although the show is no-where near the intensity of a major event like Rand or Virginia the quality of the displays is not inferior. CC Pocock who was virtually a one man blitz performing many duties ranging from airshow director/co-ordinator as well as being very active in the displays. He performed parachuting drop duties and thrilled the crowd with his display of bush flying. The proximity of the raw bush (oh ok there is a golf course on the other side of the bushes) helped in show casing the requirements of bush flying. Sadly no Pyrotechnics display this year. Unlike recent events CC Pocock did not provide any big bangs and fire. In place of this he performed the “Grobberlasdal rip-off”. Four young ladies were placed on the top of two large trucks with a string connecting their skirts together and then CC proceeded to rip off the skirts using his wingtip. Danie Terblanche in the R-22 | Other displays were performed by The Snakes Microlight team, Elton Bondi in his Extra 200 as well as an escaped Gorilla in a Yak (portrayed by Dave Gouws) and the absolutely amazing helicopter display by Danie Terblanche in the little Robison R-22. His skill in handling the helicopter never ceases to amaze us. | Sunset show| The Snakes Microlight team debuted their dusk show with lights and flares fitted to their aircraft. Unfortunately the IMG had departed on their return journey to the big smoke by the time this was performed. We will have to catch it at another event during the year. Whether driving or flying, make sure not to miss Groblersdal next time around (and for those who prefer to go to Loskop you are also included) as it is the event to book mark in your “must attend” calendar. | |
