Saturday 6 June 2009 is the 65th anniversary of D-Day when Allied troops landed on the beaches in Normandy, France during World War II - to free Europe from the Nazis. | A distinct feature on Allied aircraft operating over the beaches in Normandy on D-Day was the invasion stripes applied to the aircraft. One of the types of aircraft in operation on the day was the Hawker Typhoon. For an article on building the Hawker Typhoon in D-Day markings from the Airfix kit – click here . |
