This annual event held in the Northern Free State town of Parys is proving to be extremely popular. Even the forecast poor weather did not keep the visitors away, and the fly-in aircraft of around 80 visiting aircraft proved that. Arriving early in the morning enabled us to get a lay of the land and setup for the day. But then the weather started deteriorating. Dark ominous clouds started building up and there was a strong cross wind across the runway. This did not hamper the arriving pilots too much, but there was much side slipping performed in the wind to generally good landings and at least two absolutely superb greasers, one by a lass in a Motor Falke motorised glider. Not a bounce was evident from her landing. Parys airfield was very well prepared with very efficient marshalling to the parking for the visiting aircraft. The ATC was very efficient handling the aircraft that kept on arriving and landing like clockwork. Well done to all involved.
