Silver Falcons:

Maj Scott Ternent led Team 66 of the Silver Falcons for the first of at least four displays to be displayed throughout the day by the premier formation team of the SAAF. As part of the professionalism of the team and seeing they performed in the “Diamond City” the team thought it just to open their sequence with the “Diamond” formation. At least three variants of their display sequence were showcased to the public. One of the variants is an individual in sequence take-off by all four aircraft followed by an immediate spiral climb by all aircraft. By the time the no 1 reached maximum height for the spiral climb the rest of the team achieved the same height and started forming up on the leader for the ensuing sequence. A brilliant exercise in precision timing and aircraft speed differential. However none of the routines featured the use of smoke.

Civilian Aerobatic Teams:

The highly acclaimed Mazda ZOOM Zoom team in their twin ship Extra 300Ls demonstrated their spectacular routine which includes an extended inverted sequence. While parked on static the recently launched Mazda Cx7 formed part of the team’s static display. Their routine clearly illustrates why they are considered the top civilian display team in SA with a fair number of international acclaims. Gabriel Wings Aerobatic Team in their Pitts Specials attended as a three ship with Scully Levin, his daughter Sally Bates and Arnie Meneghelli. Both teams feature very beautiful colour schemes for great photography.
