Page 2 of 2 Weathering was reserved to only the addition of a wash to the undercarriage legs and bays, in order to give it a bit more “depth”. Looking at photos of the real aircraft, it’s quite evident that they were kept in immaculate condition. Furthermore, the paint clearly shows a semi-gloss to even total gloss sheen. I applied a top coat of semi matt varnish; two parts matt to one part gloss. In retrospect, I think the model is still a bit too glossy and should sport an even more matt finish. My personal view is that in 1/72 scale, any model with too much sheen, tends to look a bit “toy-like”, notwithstanding the finish on the real aircraft. | Yes, it’s an expensive kit. But if you’re a SAAF aficionado, you’re model collection will not be complete without a D2Z. In the light of what you get for the price, it’s definitely worth the price. I’m happy with the end result and would recommend the kit to anyone with an interest in this subject. | | PJ PRODUCTION’S Website Gallery - Opens in New Window
