Maj Alex van Oostveen leader 100 displays
With the morning routine complete the current leader of Team 65, Alex van Oostveen was drenched with champagne during a special ceremony performed by fellow team members and members of the ground crew. It was the 100th time he acted as leader of this very popular team during a public demonstration. Teams 65 comprise Maj Alex van Oostveen, Capt Guy Du Sautoy, Capt Alex MacPhail and Capt Scott Ternent. Acting as the GLO (Ground Liaison Officer) is Falcon 5 Lt Buti Tsebe. The book “40 Years – Silver Falcons” contains a well illustrated history dating back to the “Bumbling Bees”. Photos of all the team members who served as members of the Silver Falcons are also included. This is the first attempt to record the rich history of this very popular display team.

Also present at the airshow was Piet van Schalkwyk (in his day leader of the “Spikes” formation team flying the Bosbok light utility aircraft) who did the artwork illustrations of the major aircraft types and colour schemes of the Silver Falcons team. If you bought a copy at TFDC one could have had your book signed by both the author and the artwork illustrator.

On 1 December 2007, the Silver Falcons will perform a special display in the skies above Cape Town to mark the 40rh Anniversary of the team.
