Embraer EMB 145 AEW C

Indications are 60 Sqdn will not close but is due to receive the Airbus Military A400 during 2010 to be operated out of AFB Waterkloof. The fate of the remaining Boeing 707s is unknown.  Which aircraft type will replace the EW role of the SAAF Boeings? Embraer in the form of the EMB 145 AEW&C embarked on a full out marketing campaign during 2006 as part of AAD 2006. Highly effective aircraft featuring high tech equipment, their marketing strategy was based on the SAAF’s operational use of jet powered aircraft in this role.
