Jet Aircraft

Mirage III CZ no. 800

Mirage III CZ no 800 displayed by Glen Warden

This popular SAAF Museum jet aircraft was displayed to the public by Glenn Warden. His touch and go in the morning was well received. The second display of the day (one of the few acts that did two displays) was performed at sunset. Although not as striking as the recently performed Mirage F1 show at Hoedspruit we did see the final flypast with afterburner lit-up fully.

Impala

In what is by now a South African airshow circuit standard saw Mike Weingartz once again displayed David Laas’s Atlas Impala, ZU-IMP, as only he can.

Skyraiders L-39s

It is great to see that the spirit of Mark Beckly continues to live on. Larry Beamish in ZU-HIT and Pierre Gouws in ZU-TEE performed a magnificent synchronised display dedicated to Mark. The polished and professional manner that these two worked together was exemplary. There was constant radio chatter throughout the display.  Roll on the day that this returns to the 3-ship formation that was performed at Mafekeng last year. This display was repeated later in day at dusk as well.

StrikeMaster
Virginia is the home of Gerald William’s BAC Strikemaster. This aircraft has now returned to the airshow circuit after wheels up landing incident earlier this year. The display is very well flown and the Saudi desert camouflage scheme is striking.
