![]() Curtiss Seaplane Model F at Gordons Bay Marc Cilliers records an historical Curtiss seaplane in model form. During November 1989 a commemorative cover was issued by the Simon's Town Historical Society in South Africa in remembrance of the aerial hunt for the German warship SMS Königsberg and depicts the Curtiss seaplane which tracked down the feared raider. In 1914 the Curtiss arrived in Durban from Simon's Town by train and along with pilot Dennis Cutler, embarked on the extraordinary expedition into the heart of East Africa to find the Königsberg. ![]() Dennis Cutler |
