Page 2 of 5 Bush Pilot - CC Pocock | Wall of fire | | Alic Green in an Apollo Fox which was assembled in the Lowveld demonstrated affordable flying to the crowd. Ian Puntis in the Czech made Sport cruiser also participated in the airshow. While CC Pocock, once regarded as SA’s “crocodile Dundee” thrilled the crowd with his bush pilot display in a pristine Cessna T-41. However, this was hardly the end of the day for CC Pocock and later in the afternoon with Pierre Gouws and Koos Kieck in the attacking L39, ZU-TEE presented a pyrotechnic display of note. | Demise of the wendy house |
Hollywood came to Nelspruit in the form of strafing runs, rocket fire and napalm which saw the demise of a Wendy house, an old car and some fuel drums. The grant finale was a 120m wall of fire to simulate a napalm attack. This was not unusual for Pierre Gouws who has enjoyed a taste of Hollywood. He “shot down” Nicolas Cage's transport Antonov in the movie “Lord of War” which features a large content shot on location in Southern Africa.
