Page 2 of 3 Making a guest appearance at the fly-inn was the Flying Lions Harvard formation team and they subsequently opened the aerial display which commenced from around 11h00. As part of a three ship routine, Scully Levin, Arnie Meneghelli and Stew Lithgow thrilled the large turnout with the deep throat roar of the Pratt & Whitney engines - disturbing the otherwise relatively quiet rural surroundings. The team spent the day in the company of the hosts and Scully Levin also received an award for his contribution to the airshow scene. Scully Levin with Jeff Birch started out in the Winfield Pitts Special team as one of the pioneering formation aerobatic teams in 1985. Around the same time Brian Emmenis with Richard Fouche’ as producer, started broadcasting at airshows in South Africa having concentrated on the power boat scene before. For the spot landing Pieter le Roux in a RV-9, ZU-DRF took first place with Des Walker, ZU-DZJ winning the microlight competition. Long distance went to Reinhard Uebel who visited all the way from Melkbostrand in a microlight!
