Page 3 of 5 Light aircraft In the spirit of EAA there were displays of light aircraft. First up was a Cubby, a 75% Piper J3 Cub replica built in South Africa, display. This was followed by a Czech Aircraft Works (CZAW) Sport Cruiser flown by Ian Puntis. This aircraft is a Czech built American design all metal light aircraft. This was followed by an RV 8, flown by Nigel Hopkins put her through its aerobatic paces. Jet Duo display
Cessna duo Carl Jenkins in his immaculate and original delivery finish 1955 Cessna 170 and Archie Kemp with his 1948 Cessna 195 performed a formation takeoff and then displayed their grand old ladies of the sky showing that there is still plenty of life left in those graceful ladies from the past. These two aircraft are in pristine condition and are tenderly loved and cared for. In fact a condition of Carl bringing his lady to any event is that she has to be hangared overnight in a closed hangar to keep her from the elements. I don’t blame him as this Cessna is highly polished. New comer Johhny Smith, a new comer to the airshow circuit and recent winner of the Sports Aerobatic Championship displayed his Slick360. It is great to see that there are upcoming acts appearing on the local airshow circuit. |
