After locating the airfield (yes Garmin we need you for this as well as we took the wrong road initially. Oh well we were not alone in this detour either) we met up with other members of the media contingent (rather large for the first formal event of the year with around 25 representatives signed in). We settled down under the thorn trees at the runway threshold for the day. There is nothing like escaping the hustle and bustle of the big city into the countryside and having a flying event just tops the cherry.

The Loskop flying festival is a small informal event made possible by enthusiastic volunteers and a supportive flying community from around the country. A constant stream of general aviation aircraft and eggbeaters proceeded (eventually almost 190 aircraft arrived) at constant intervals. Most GA types were to be seen from microlights through to twin engined aircraft. A number of warbirds were also present to the delight of all who had paid their R30.00 entrance fee.
