Finally, a new method was adopted and this was to mix the DDT with diesel oil, also fed under gravity and connected via extension pipes to the aircraft exhaust stacks. It still worked at 10 gallons per minute, the dieseline being ignited by the exhaust, with the whole lot coming out as a very dense white smoke which was easily visible, and the modus operandi was as follows:
