Sikorsky S-51 Model Kits E-mail

No S-51 kit is made by the more mainstream model kit manufacturers. That said a number of smaller concerns do offer the S-51 in different variants which could be used as basis for a SAAF S-51. These kits do require a bit work, but then you are a scale modeller….

1/72:

 Image GP.011 Mach 2 offers just about the best kit.
 Image 72126 MPM main kit rotors are too short and the main cabin windows incorrect for a SAAF S-51.

Airways made a vacform out of clear plastic but this is problematic in mating the fuselage due to the type of plastic used. As for the main rotor blades you have to cut them yourself form the included plasticard. Royal Navy decals included.

  

Aerodrom made three variants and the one is a Dragonfly which is similar to the SAAF S-51. Normally two complete fuselages are included, one in see-through and one in coloured plastic. It is up the modeller in which way the windows are incorporated into the fuselage.
