Included in the foyer were club displays by IPMS Cape Peninsula, IPMS Free State and the Gold Reef Modellers Society. The display by IPMS Free State included models by the late Rynhard Bresler and Bert van den Heever who passed away recently.

Very affordable accommodation was arranged on the base which made it not only easier on the pocket but also to attend the various activities throughout the weekend as most were within walking distance. Most checked in during the early evening and with accommodation in order it was time to head over to the club facility of the School of Armour and the 1 SA Tank Regiment. It is a proper SANDF club area with the walls lined in beach wood with a large number of display cabinets. Contained inside the cabinets are various items outlining unit history with exchanged items from other Armoured Forces which includes some of the prominent Armed Forces from around the World. Judging by the items on the display this is a unit which is proud of their rich history, their personnel and equipment while employing resources in the latest methods of armoured warfare. Throughout the evening our barman on duty was “Barries” and he attended to the liquid requirements of the modellers. As the organisers had quite a busy time before the Nats, they thought it just to provide all the facilities but neglected to inform everyone of the “self braai” feature of the braai (barbeque). Needless to say this worked very well as members got engaged in many interesting conversations around the braai grid while attending to their meat being grilled to individual perfection. As some had been up since 03h00 the evening draw to a close around 22h00 with the traditional call of “Last round…..”
