Following the release of the Cheetah C in 1/72 by High Planes Model Kits of Australia, a new model kit of the Cheetah D in 1/72
Kit no 7257 is available from the same company. The new kit can be used for an early D model and is moulded on similar lines as the Cheetah C kit.

	In the box: Similar to the C kit, it is also a multi-media kit and injection moulded main parts with resin and white metal parts are used. The sprues are moulded in a light blue colour and some flash is evident. All the plastic parts need cleaning up. Fuselage is that of a Mirage III D - the nose section needs to be removed and the Cheetah D nose attached as a separate item. From a quick look the nose appear correct in shape and profile. The under carriage is white metal. Cockpit is a bit basic and those that like to super detail, the photos on this Website can assist to make an accurate cockpit area. Two resin Mk 10 seats are included and a resin refuelling probe. Decal sheet include options for the earlier Cheetah Ds with both all grey and gold eagle National markings. Only 2 Sqdn markings are included and unfortunately no 89 Combat FS, which were the main user of the early D models. The vac-formed canopy does not have the single panel front windscreen, thus the canopy can only be used for the early D models and not the upgraded Cheetah D models.

  In all, still the only Cheetah C and D model kits available on the market. These kits require a bit of work, but with a bit of effort can be build up into very neat models.
