Modelling the Mirage F1 CZ in 1/48 scale.

The only F1C kit in 1/48 was released by ESCI. The nose profile is correct for the C, but same cockpit, main undercarriage errors exist as described for the AZ, above.

Modelling the Mirage F1 CZ in 1/48 scale.

Airfix, Heller, ESCI and Hasegawa have all released a Mirage F1C and are still available in South Africa. The serial number on the Airfix kit is correct for a CZ, but the serial numbers on the ESCI kits are incorrect. The Hasegawa kit has incorrect main wheels. The AZ article above can be used as a guide for building these kits. However no AZ kit has been released - but could be done by shaping a fuel tank or 1/48 scale air-air missile.

SAAF Mirage F1 Colours: 

BaxMod & Spinners have released a limited quantity of SAAF colours made from actual paint chips of the Mirage III R2Z no 857 based at the SAAF Museum in Cape Town. With a little colour tuning the Buff colour could be used to resemble the colour  as used at various stages on the Mirage F1. Cobra Company released the first resin cockpit update set for the new Italeri kit of the F1. I have not seen this release and therefore unable to comment on it's accuracy for the SAAF variants.

1/72 scale.

Morianid of South Africa release a photo etched update set for the Mirage F1 CZ in 72 scale. If enough interest could be generated, this will be upscaled for use on the 48 scale kits. Contact A.C.
