 First F1AZ flown by a SAAF pilot, Capt Gawie Winterbach in France and in SA. Fitted with Russian SMR-95 engine and displayed at SAAF 75. Failing SAAF interest the aircraft was moved to the SAAF Museum Swartkops on 22/12/97. However, during 2000 the aircraft was moved to Aerosud for the revival of the "Super Mirage F1AZ" programme as an export venture. Currently with Aerosud for engine and operational testing.

 Second F1AZ flown by a SAAF pilot, Capt Andre van der Heever in SA. Withdrawn from service. On offer for sale. Used by the last "Billy" Lt. Col Jan Minnie for his solo display as part of the AZ retirement ceremony. Took part in final five ship display - last pilot name in yellow: Lt Kol Mienie "Billy". This was the last flight in SA by an F1 as part of the SAAF.

  221Photo unavailable. Written off on 23/07/85 at AFB Hoedspruit. Aircraft suffered fuel pipe problem. During the attempted emergency landing the aircraft crashed in spectacular fashion. Pilot walked away safely. Some components of this aircraft was mated to the front section of 205 and the aircraft returned to operational use as 205. The rest of this aircraft was later rebuild to fly as 221 again. It was written off on 05/02/92 after bird ingestion. The emergency landing attempt was unsuccessful as the aircraft crashed 1nm short of the runway. Pilot ejected safely.

Aircraft written of on 23/11/93. During a low level maritime shipping strike exercise, the aircraft crashed into the sea, off Cape Point. Pilot ejected, but was lost at sea.

Later used as an avionics demonstrator and painted in a special bright blue/white scheme. Known as the "World's Fastest Dairy Truck". Similar fairing between ventral strakes as 233. Delivered to SAAF Museum Swartkop on 22/10/97 and placed on static display - engine removed.
