| | 205 | | Second F1CZ flown by a SAAF pilot, Maj Chris Lombard in SA. Partly written off on 08/02/85. During a Air-Air training mission, the pilot experienced severe engine fluctuations. During emergency landing at AFB Langebaanweg, the aircraft turned off runway and caught fire. Pilot safe. Fire was caused by a faulty ignitor jet. Later rebuild with components from 221 and 206 to return to operational use as 205. Used in missile trails of V3S etc. Currently allocated to Wits University, Aeronautical Department. | | 206 | | Written off on 27/09/87. Aircraft hit by either a AA-7 or AA-8 missile fired from a MiG 23 during a dogfight. Pilot displayed superior airmanship to nurse the aircraft home for an emergency landing at AFB Rundu. Due to loss of hydraulics, oil and brake parachute, the CZ overshot the runway - the subsequent crash caused the e. seat to fire. Pilot survived the ejection but as the parachute failed to open (Mk 4BS is not zero-zero) left him paralysed from the waist down. Tail section fitted to 205 to return to operational use as 205. See piercy.co.za for more info. | | 207 | | Withdrawn from service. Currently allocated to Stellenbosch University, Structure Laboratory, Department of Mechanical Engineering. Current photos of 207 during 2005.
