The actual smaller rocket pods can however be scratch build.

Image Assemble the mini gun pods (parts 41 - 44) and leave to dry. Cut the ends of the gun pods as shown in the drawing (STEP 1)
Image Now use the cone section of the rocket pod set and cut just behind the first ring of rocket pod barrels (STEP 2).
Image
Glue the two parts together (STEP 3), sand/file as required and the pod is complete. It is recommended that the back part is slightly filed down to emulate thinner plating (A in STEP 3).

The inside (A) is painted Matt Black while the outer shell is normally Dark Green. The  nosecone area can be finished of in Matt Black. Note that the rocket pods are normally carried on stations 1 and 6, or stations 3 and 4. There are photos of Mk2s with rocket pods on the 4 inside stations and rocket pods on all 6 stations as photographed during the Border war. The fuel drop tanks are correctly carried on stations 2 and 5. In addition the Mk2s could also carry 120kg and even 250kg bombs. For modelling purposes similar to the US Mk 81 and Mk 82 ordnance. But this were normally limited to just two bombs with two drop tanks. Again as for the Mk1 - don't fit the ILS antennas. The little hole in the nose must NOT be drilled as the Mk2 has a solid nose. Most of the modelling reviews are in fact wrong the Mk2 does have the larger intakes as this aircraft is fitted with the more powerful Viper motor. The Esci kit of the Mk2 is correct in this regard.  The kit include decal option for 4 Sqdn of the SAAF, aircraft no. 1020. The SAAF Castles are best replaced by aftermarket sheets and a few spelling errors both in Afrikaans and English exist on the sheet. Further the serial numbers on the bottom of the wings face in opposite directions as per the RAF and not as indicated on the instruction sheet. However, the MK2 only briefly carried these serial numbers and were later removed. Check the stance of the main undercarriage - may need to drill larger holes in the bottom of the wings in order to get the main undercarriage to fit deeper into the wings. The main under carriage bays does have some detail, but the front wheel well contains no detail. But this should not be a problem on the front wheel well, as fairly little is seen, once the well doors are installed. The upper forward nose profile needs some building up and sanding to the correct shape.  The colours are inaccurately quoted on the painting guide and the camou pattern is incorrect for the top part of the aircraft.
