ImageThe cockpit section and the jet intake was fitted inside the fuselage and the two fuselage halves were cemented together. When this assembly was dry I filled the fuselage joins with Green Putty and sanded smooth.
ImageThe Fujimi kit comes with separate panels for the guns. The gun ports are very simple so to make them more accurate I heated a needle over a candle and carefully stuck the warm needle into each cannon port. When I was satisfied with the result I glued the panels to the fuselage. The needle melted the plastic and made the cannon ports bigger.

I now put the fuselage aside for a while and concentrated on the wings. To make the narrow, slatted wings, I had to reduce the wing chord. Starting with the upper wing halves I scribed a line just behind and parallel to the slat. A new line was scribed behind this two millimeters behind at the wing root and one millimeter behind at the tip. I then repeated the scribing of both lines with a sharp knife until I had cut through the plastic. With the 6-3 inserted section removed I joined the two separated wing parts and strengthened the join on the inside with tabs of plasticard, The same procedure was repeated on the other upper wing half and the two lower wing halves.

Before I cemented together the upper and lower wing halves I modified the undercarriage wheel wells. The thickness of he plastic is oversize compared to the metal wing. I cut away some plastic from the inside of the wings along the edge of the wheel wells to make the thickness more accurate. The etched metal wheel well interior was superglued to the inside of the wings and finally the upper wing halves we cemented to the lower.
