Page 3 of 4 Nose: | Photos suggest the blunter Dominie nose is correct for a Srs 400, which could be sanded down to shape, if using the Matchbox kit alone. The Dominie nose halves were removed, replacing the Matchbox nose, after inserting a milliput/lead shot mixture as a nose weight. 'Skullcap' Using the shape of the Dominie as a pattern, milliput was used to model the shape. An easier alternative to cutting away and fairing in the Dominie kit part. |
Painting:Nissan silver, Halfords appliance white, blue decalstripe, orange and blue for tailflash. No white middle, kristal kleer windows, leading edges using Bare Metal foil.
Engines: The engines were installed after painting. The 125/400 has the earlier Viper engine as per the Dominie, which has a very different profile to the later Garrett nacelle of the 125 Srs 600. The contrast is shown on the line drawing in Bill Gunstons' book.
Finishing touches: Door step, handrail, door release handle, wing lights, (MV lenses) pitots, aerials.
