Mustangs over Korea : The North American F51 at war 1950 - 1953 by David R McLaren, published by Schiffer Military History.

Gives a bit of a more sobering view of the activities. This includes a complete chapter on the SAAF. Some SAAF fans will find his account biased, but nevertheless it includes some information which is not generally appreciated, such as the fact that some SAAF pilots had less than 10 hours on the type before they went into combat, which may help explain the extraordinarily high attrition rate. On the other hand it has some of the best accounts of other activities performed by the SAAF, such as escorting B-29 bombers, during which they were bounced by Mig 15s - although totally out performed, the managed to successfully evade the Migs and still prevent any of the bombers being attacked. In another setting, a SAAF pilot was credited with damaging a Mig 15.

Looking back with laughter, the saga of a South African student, soldier and skypilot in Korea. C. Scott Shaw.
